Trumpington Park Primary School (TPPS), part of Meridian Trust, is proud to announce that it is one of 310 schools that has been awarded the Primary Science Quality Mark (PSQM) this month. The nationally recognised accreditation celebrates excellence in science leadership, curriculum design, teaching and learning.
Led by the University of Hertfordshire, for over a decade, the Primary Science Quality Mark (PSQM) has been setting children on a path to a life filled with exciting possibilities and opportunities, by giving them access to a strong foundation in quality primary science education. The year-long professional development programme supports science subject leaders to strengthen teaching, raise the profile of science, and embed a culture of continuous improvement across their schools.
At TPPS, science is thriving thanks to strong leadership, innovative teaching, and a shared belief that every child should see themselves as a scientist. The school’s achievement reflects a sustained commitment to developing high-quality science education for all pupils.
Regular assessment, monitoring, and evaluation ensure that teaching continually evolves to meet pupils’ needs and sustain high standards. The impact of this approach can be seen in the enthusiasm, confidence, and scientific understanding shown by pupils across the school, who are encouraged to explore, investigate, and think critically about the world they live in.
Science at TPPS also extends far beyond the classroom. A rich programme of enrichment activities, from science fairs and clubs to trips, visitors, and the school’s own Phiz Lab, provides pupils with hands-on, real-world scientific experiences. Strong links with local science organisations, including AstraZeneca and Abcam, also give children the chance to see science in action, from visiting working laboratories to taking part in interactive workshops that bring scientific ideas to life. These opportunities nurture curiosity and inspire children to connect their learning to the world around them.
