Our Trust History

10 for a good cause

What can you recall about the spring of 2011? Did you throw a party for William and Kate’s Royal Wedding? Or were you settled on the sofa to watch the first episode of Game of Thrones? Perhaps you cheered Manchester United to their 12th Premier League title?

At Cambridge Meridian Academies Trust (CMAT) an idea was brewing, formed over a pint of beer (or two!). We had embarked on a new, exciting journey, with a clear desire to provide high quality and dynamic education for everyone, right in the heart of our communities.
We couldn’t be the Trust we are today without the support and commitment of our amazing colleagues and the communities we work in.

We couldn’t be the Trust we are today without the support and commitment of our amazing colleagues and the communities we work in.

As a key part of our 10th anniversary celebrations, we are asking our colleagues to show their support by contributing to our collective volunteering and fundraising effort centred around the number 10 – CMAT Take 10.

The idea of CMAT Take 10 is that all our colleagues will volunteer 10 hours of their time over the course of the summer term to a local charity or community project. Alternatively, they can choose to raise funds for our CMAT charities by doing 10 hours of a favourite activity. This could be something energetic like walking, jogging or swimming; or more relaxed like baking, sewing or painting. Get creative!

If every member of CMAT staff gave just 10 hours of their time, we could give almost 200,000 hours of support to our communities. That’s the equivalent of 8,333 days and roughly 277 months.

We hope you will be as excited about this collective effort to give back to our communities as we are and we urge you to encourage colleagues, pupils, or family members to get involved in your ideas wherever possible.
