Students at The Ferrers School in Higham Ferrers spread some Christmas cheer this month, as they performed their long-awaited annual Winter Showcase to the local community.
On the night, the virtual celebration was filled with musical, drama, and dance talent, and was available for parents and the local community to live-stream from the comfort of their own home.
James, a student in Year 11, said “It was fun to be able to be festive in costume and sing with other cast members. It gave me a lot of confidence to perform.”
Angela Smith, Principal at The Ferrers School, said: “For the second year running, Covid-19 has not stopped the passion, determination, and enthusiasm of our young people. We were thrilled with the strong turnout and number of people who tuned in and were amazed with the level of talent displayed.
“As always, our fantastic Expressive Arts team helped our students every step of the way and ensured each and every one of them was able to shine brightly. Thank you to our whole school community for their support.”
Claire Daniel, Curriculum Leader for Expressive Arts at The Ferrers School, said: “This event is always made special due to the dedication and commitment of our students, their teachers, and the teamwork between the two. A lot of work goes into this event, and we are so excited to be able to champion such amazing talent.”
In December, the academy also held an interhouse ‘Christmas Hamper Competition’, with students creating their own festive themed hampers filled with food donations. Following the competition, all food was distributed to the local community.

The school are asking for a small donation for each viewing, with money going towards The Ferrers Artsmark Fund; helping to provide arts and cultural experiences for the students.
