Staff and students across Meridian Trust’s secondary schools are celebrating fantastic A-level success.
This year has seen the return of formal examinations after the enforced changes in accreditation over the previous two years.
We have seen many impressive individual achievements and significant progression made across subject areas. To highlight some of this we have included information from across our schools in this round up.
Standout Year 13 performers at The Ferrers School include Dylan Wood and Ben Swankie who collectively achieved six A* – A grades; as well as Max Potts and Aimee-Jayne Lincoln who achieved six Distinction* – Distinction grades between them. Many students secured their chosen university courses including Jasmine Dorks who has a place at University of Lincoln to read Zoology and Ben Swankie who has secured a place at the University of Leeds to read Aeronautical Engineering.
Amongst many outstanding results within Sharnbrook Academy, there were some exceptional individual performances. Natalie Mutiswa achieved one A* grade and two As and is now heading to the University of Cambridge to read Geography. Lucy Cooper achieved two A* grades and one A. She is continuing her studies at the University of Birmingham to read Medicine.
Speaking of the achievements at Sawtry Village Academy, Tom Hill, Head of Sixth Form said: “All of our sixth form students have worked tirelessly throughout their time in the sixth form and it is very rewarding to see their dedication pay off as they prepare to go on to University, Apprenticeships or their chosen careers.” Top performers included Amy Ginn, Eleanor Maryniak and Milly Smith who achieved As across all three of their chosen subjects.
Bishop Laney Sixth Form, Ely, has students continuing their studies in different destinations across the country. Caleb Nelson-Shearing secured the highest possible starred Distinction grade in his Diploma in Sport & Exercise Science, and in combining that with A Level Geography is planning to take up a place at the University of Exeter studying Exercise and Sport Science.
Stratton Upper School is saying a fond goodbye to Jonathon Roberts and Ayran Patel who both achieved three A* – As and will be continuing their studies in Computer Science at the University of Birmingham and the University of Southampton. Principal Roz Hodges said: “At Stratton Upper School we promote a ‘can do’ culture in which every student is encouraged to strive for excellence. We are extremely proud of the bright, independent individuals this cohort have become and wish them the best of luck in their future aspirations.”
At Nene Park Academy, high achievers included Emily Knight with three As and an A who has taken up her place at the University of Exeter to undertake Mechanical Engineering. Also, Sophie De Ruyter who also achieved three As and an A who will go on to study Chemistry at the University of York.
For Greater Peterborough UTC, our STEM and built environment specialist school, there were similar stories of students going on to secure places at university or starting off their careers with apprenticeships and jobs.
