Meridian Trust schools came together to mark #BrewMonday – an initiative led by Samaritans that encourages fostering connections with colleagues, friends, and family over a warm drink.
Staff and students at Northstowe Secondary College joined in the spirit of togetherness, sharing hot chocolate during break time.
At Stamford Welland Academy, a similar get-together took place to encourage meaningful conversations over a ‘brew,’ aligning with the school’s ethos of community and support.
Student well-being is at the top of the agenda at The Ferrers School Students enjoyed a breakfast treat of coffee, a pastry, and a chat with friends during form time.
At our newest secondary school, Weldon Village Academy, students took 20 minutes out for Brew Monday. As Principal Matt Norris said, “It’s dark and cold outside, but our caring, curious, and committed students always look out for each other.”
As background to #BrewMonday, when the idea of Blue Monday came about in the mid-2000s, with the notion that the third Monday of the year was the most depressing day, Samaritans decided they wanted to do something about it. So they countered the phrase Blue Monday with their own ‘Brew Monday’, encouraging people to brew a cup of coffee or tea and have a talk with someone.
We thank the efforts of these schools and others who took the time to put extra focus on pupil and staff well-being this week.
