A series of Year 6 open evenings have been announced for prospective pupils and parents to find out all about life at the new Weldon Village Academy.
Weldon Village Academy, a co-educational secondary school which is due to open in September 2023, will be run by Meridian Trust and located on land off the A427 Weldon in the village near Corby.
The school will serve students from across the whole of Corby and surrounding villages. Once complete, it will be an 8 Form Entry Secondary School and 6th Form. The school will provide a total of 1,500 school places, including 300 students within the 6th Form. The first intake is for Year 7 from September 2023.
The open evenings take place on:
• Tuesday 13th September – 5pm to 5.45pm – Stanion Primary School (for Stanion Primary School and Brigstock Primary School students)
• Thursday 15th September – 6.30pm to 7.15pm – Priors Hall School (Priors Hall students and surrounding area)
• Thursday 22nd September – 5pm to 5.45pm – Weldon CE Primary School (Weldon Primary School students)
• Thursday 29th September – 5pm to 5.45pm – Weldon CE Primary (everyone welcome from Weldon and surrounding areas)
The build is in partnership with the Department for Education (DfE), BAM Construct UK, the Contractor, and Mott MacDonald, the Technical Advisor. Work has progressed very well over the summer with many buildings on the site beginning to take shape with windows, external walls and roofing in place.
The new three storey school building will feature two teaching wings stemming from the main building spine, creating a protected courtyard. Also within the site will be sports and recreation facilities that will include a sports hall, a four court multi-use games area, two full-sized football pitches and three five-a-side pitches.

“Visitors will be able to learn all about our vision for Weldon Village Academy and its many benefits. Also, how Meridian Trust exists to provide, support, and champion high-quality education at the heart of local communities.
“The project team is doing a tremendous job with the build of the school. It is really starting to take shape and we are greatly looking forward to the time when it opens.”
Supporting the community is a major objective for the project and in recent months BAM Construct has invited T-Level students from Bedford College on site to support them with their training and studies in design, planning and surveying.
The admissions application form for current Year 6 is now live and closes at 5pm on October 31st 2022. The form can be accessed online here and applications can also be made by post with information in the online link.
