Northstowe Learning Community set to host long-awaited open day

Northstowe Learning Community, comprised of Northstowe Secondary College and Martin Bacon Academy, is set to host its very first community open day on Saturday 16th October.

The open day event, which will run from 09:00 to 12:00, was postponed last year due to Covid-19 restrictions. This means that many local community members and parents have not been able to visit the new site since construction finished last October.

On the day, visitors will have the chance to tour the purpose-built modern facilities, including a specialist SEND provision, two artificial pitches, hard courts, a dance studio, an activity studio, a 400-seat theatre, a community meeting room, and a four-court sports hall. A café and a fitness gym are also planned.

To book their place on a tour, visitors will need to visit the following Eventbrite links:

Andy Daly, Executive Principal of Northstowe Learning Community, said: “Our Northstowe Education Campus has been a long time coming and we are so proud to see our vision for high-quality education at the heart of the community coming to life.

“We have worked incredibly hard to deliver inspiring learning environments for pupils across both Northstowe Secondary College and Martin Bacon Academy, and it is fantastic to finally be able to showcase the facilities our young people enjoy to our local community.”

New Arts Pavillions are also due to open soon. These will be a fantastic resource for promoting and celebrating the arts in the Northstowe community and fostering a love for art in our young people.
