Northstowe now has a new place to get active, meet people, and stay healthy. P&E Sports, in partnership with Meridian Trust and Northstowe Secondary College, has officially opened Northstowe Gym to the public. Designed with the whole community in mind, the gym offers a welcoming, inclusive space for people of all fitness levels, and reflects Meridian Trust and P&E Sports’ shared commitment to building stronger, healthier and more connected communities.
Located at Northstowe Secondary College, the gym is open 6am–10pm on weekdays and 8am–8pm on weekends and bank holidays, making it easy for members to fit fitness into busy daily routines. Members can choose from up to 30 classes each week, including strength-based sessions such as L1ft, high-energy cardio classes like Bl1tz and R1de, and stretching and recovery through M1de. The programme also includes mixed-format classes such as Str1ke and R1ze, offering variety, motivation, and progression for all abilities.
Meridian Trust staff and students aged 16 or over can enjoy 50% off membership, with options of £20 per month or £200 annually. Membership includes full access to the gym and all classes.
“Northstowe Gym isn’t just about working out, it’s about creating a place where people feel welcome, supported, and part of something bigger,” said Daniel Noke, Director at P&E Sports. “Our mission is to empower local communities by providing accessible, high-quality sports and activity opportunities through strong partnerships with schools, local authorities, and community groups. The layout of the two gym spaces was carefully designed to maximise flexibility and shared use, ensuring the facilities not only exceed the school’s needs but also provide excellent access for the wider community.”
To celebrate the opening, a VIP launch event was held on 12 January 2026, welcoming members of Meridian Trust, Dr Claire Mills, Principal of Northstowe Secondary College, Northstowe Secondary College’s PE department and Mayor Cllr Carla Bros Sabrià of Northstowe Town Council, to tour the facilities and mark this important milestone for the town.
The event opened with speeches from David Phelan, Managing Director of P&E Sports, who said: “It’s fantastic to see so many people here who have played a part in bringing this project to life. I’d like to thank Cambridgeshire County Council for their funding support, Meridian Trust for their guidance and commitment throughout the entire process, and a very special thank you to Dr Claire Mills, whose support from day one has been invaluable. I’d also like to recognise the wider site team and Northstowe Secondary College’s PE department for their enthusiasm, insight, and collaboration.”

Dr Mills added: “Our partnership with P&E sports and the public gym is a fantastic opportunity for both our students and the wider Northstowe community to benefit from these purpose-built amenities. These facilities reflect Meridian Trust’s values of providing a high-quality learning environment where young people are equipped with the tools they need to succeed. We’re proud to share them with the community, and this partnership ensures they will remain accessible to all.”

Mayor Cllr Carla Bros Sabrià echoed these sentiments, saying: “This is a historic moment for Northstowe, marking the opening of the town’s first commercial gym. It’s been encouraging to hear such positive feedback from residents, and I’d like to thank everyone involved in this partnership for delivering something that will benefit the community for years to come.”
The guided tour was led by Lee Graham, Sports Centre Manager, giving attendees the opportunity to explore the activities room, home to over 30 weekly classes, before finishing on the top floor where the main gym is located.
Brad Robinson, Head of PE at Northstowe Secondary College, said: “It has been a real pleasure to see this project come together. To now see the gym fully operational and so well used by both students and the wider community is incredibly rewarding.”
