Staff and students at Nene Park Academy are celebrating after their school was awarded World Class School status, joining a network of just 127 schools in the UK.
The Quality Mark, which is awarded by education charity, World Class Schools Quality Mark (WCSQM), uses an assessment framework to evaluate students on their demonstration and application of World Class skills and competencies.
Nene Park Academy, which is part of the Meridian Trust, was one of just four schools to be awarded the Quality Mark in 2022.
The World Class Schools Quality Mark is granted to schools in the UK and internationally whose students have demonstrated World Class skills and competencies, by successfully completing an accreditation process assessed by a team of qualified assessors.
The students’ successful submission makes Nene Park Academy part of a select group of schools across the country and the world, including Swavesey Village College, also part of Meridian Trust.
Miranda Perry, Director of WCSQM, visited the school on 9th February to present students with their WCSQM plaque. Commenting on their success, she said: “The accrediting students in 2022 demonstrated World Class intellectual curiosity, organisational and collaboration skills. Our assessors praised their professionalism and the impressive quality of their work. Students like these give us hope for the future.”
Amy, a Year 11 student said “We’ve been working towards this goal since we were in Year 9, so it’s an achievement that we’re really proud of. It was great to meet Miranda and show her around the school too.”
Robin Grover, Principal at Nene Park Academy, said: “I am so proud of our students and the opportunity they have secured for all of our students attending Nene Park Academy. Every single one of them can now say and include on any job or University application that they go to an official World Class School.”
