We are delighted to celebrate 106 students achieving Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) through The Cambridge Partnership, one of Meridian Trust’s Initial Teacher Training (ITT) programmes.
The Cambridge Partnership collaborates closely with schools across the region to provide inspirational teachers and future school leaders. In February 2024, the Partnership received an ‘Outstanding’ rating from Ofsted and highlighted, “the process for trainees learning the theory of teaching, understanding how it applies to a particular subject or phase and practising it in school is seamless.”
This year, the ITT programme, based at Meridian Trust’s Swavesey Village College, partnered with more than 100 schools across the region. Each trainee participated in a comprehensive programme of in-school experiences and research-based theories. Within the programme, there were a total of 49 Primary teacher trainees and 57 Secondary teacher trainees who achieved QTS.
Sheila Wigg, Programme Manager, reflected on her many years of service within education and at The Cambridge Partnership. “As educators, we should continuously learn and develop, pursuing high expectations while supporting our most vulnerable pupils.” Sheila added, “Students will remember you because you listened, explained things well and made time for them.”
We believe all children deserve the best teachers, and that school-centred, school-focused training is the best way to develop our teachers of the future.
Molly Morris, who achieved QTS for English in Secondary Education, shared her experience: “It has been wonderful to see our cohort grow together and share ideas. The ITT team was very flexible, working with your requirements, providing specific strategies and then how to reflect on the scenario.”
Joseph Kettle, a Primary Education graduate added, “Being hands-on in the classroom, working directly with the children, and gaining practical experience was the highlight of the course.”
Richard Davies, Director of Initial Teacher Training at Meridian Trust, remarked: “Our students have worked exceptionally hard this year to achieve their QTS. This accomplishment reflects their dedication, hard work, and passion for education. They are now ready to inspire and shape the minds of future generations, and we could not be prouder of their achievements.”
