On Thursday 24th of August, students across fourteen of Meridian Trust’s academies celebrated yet another set of superb GCSE results. With the majority achieving grades that allowed them to further their education at the chosen college, sixth form, apprenticeship or vocational course.

Greater Peterborough UTC
Year Eleven students at GPUTC celebrated as they collected their GCSE results and vocational qualifications.
David Bisley, Principal at Greater Peterborough UTC, part of Meridian Trust, spoke of his pride in the efforts students have put in.
He said: “We are pleased that the school is again seeing a positive set of GCSE results from our fantastic students here at GPUTC. Despite everything they have had to cope with, children across the ability range have made great progress with many examples of high achievement. The students who open their results today will go on to do great things.’’
Individual success stories at the school included: Sage Howard, Dip Kaur, Jan Kowalik, Frankie Newbatt, Mia Thatcher and Joshua White.
Lincroft Academy
Principal, Emma Appadoo, praised the effort of students and staff, saying: “These GCSE results reflect our school’s ethos for students to be the best they can be, blending ambition and support.
“From target achievements to top grades, each student’s success embodies individual and collective effort. This success fuels our determination to foster an environment of excellence where potential thrives.”
Students who performed exceptionally well included: Ruby-Ann Dutch who secured 8x Grade 9 and 2x Grade 8 and Maddy Dyer who achieved 8 x Grade 9 and 1 x Grade 8 and 1 x Grade 7.
Nene Park Academy
Robin Grover, Principal of Nene Park Academy, spoke of his pride after students collected their GCSE results, saying: ‘’ We are incredibly proud of our students’ accomplishments, and are particularly pleased with subject results in Maths, Biology, Art, Languages, and all technical subjects.
“With the anticipated return this year to grade boundaries in line with 2019, we are delighted to see another improvement in results, with a positive progress picture overall.
The academy has also seen many individual success stories with top performer Rebecca Au achieving nine grade 9s, one grade 8, and one grade 7. Amy Berry shone as the top performer in English Literature whilst also being awarded five grade 9s, three grade 6s, and one grade 5.
North Cambridge Academy
Andy Daly, Executive Principal at North Cambridge Academy, said: “We would like to congratulate our students and staff on all the determination they’ve shown in achieving these results.
“They have secured a fantastic set of results in a broad range of subjects from English and Maths to History, Science, Computing, Construction, Sport, Art, Music, Dance and Modern Foreign Languages. Our students have undoubtedly demonstrated the Academy’s values of hard work, ambition, confidence and creativity to secure these results. They should be so proud of their achievements.’’
The academy also celebrated a number of its students who performed outstandingly well. Student President, Fianna, achieved grade 9s in English Literature, History and Religious Education. Kaitlyn, who only joined the school in Year 10, achieved grade 9s in Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Physics, Geography and a Distinction* in Sport.
Sawtry Village Academy
Simon Parsons, Principal at Sawtry Village Academy, said: “We could not be prouder of what our students have achieved this year and how hard they have worked throughout their studies.
“The resilience shown over the past few years has been remarkable. Their results demonstrate their academic excellence over the past five years which would not have been possible without the dedication of our team of inspiring and motivational staff who have supported every student throughout their time at Sawtry Village Academy”.
Students who performed particularly well included: Joseph Smith, Alex Ginn, William Deaves, Elliot Clarke and Moria Howard who all attained at least 4 grade 9s.
Sharnbrook Academy
Clare Raku, Academy Principal at Sharnbrook Academy, said, “We are incredibly proud of our students and delighted they have achieved the grades needed to move onto the next stage of their education, training or employment. We also look forward to welcoming back many of them to the Sharnbrook Sixth Form in September.”
A few of the standout performers included Saachi Joshi who achieved ten grade 9s and Miles Thompson who achieved eight grade 9s, one grade 7 and a distinction.
Recognition also needs to go out to Sofiia Yarema who achieved nine GCSEs at a grade 4 or above, including two Grade 9s and Risa White who achieved nine GCSEs at a grade 4 or above, including one grade 9 and one Grade 7. They only joined the academy from Ukraine towards the end of Year 10.
Stamford Welland Academy
Vicky Lloyd, Principal at Stamford Welland Academy said: “We are absolutely delighted with the performance of our students this year. They have done exceptionally well, and the overall results are in line with last year’s, despite the return to tougher, pre-COVID grade boundaries.’
“The first part of their secondary school experience has been unbelievably challenging for these students, as they navigated their education through a pandemic, yet they have risen to this challenge and together with the dedication from the staff team, they are now reaping the rewards of their hard work with superb results!”
Jude Robinson secured a superb set of results, achieving eight grade 9s across all his subjects.
Tobias Robinson, Esme White, Nino Michalowski, Jack Emery, David Buckle, Lilly Thompson, Serina McBeath and Isabella Livingstone, were also celebrating as the students averaged grades 7– 9 across their complement of GCSEs.
