Histon and Impington Brook Primary School is celebrating the result of its recent Ofsted inspection, which took place on 15th and 16th October 2024. The school achieved ‘Outstanding’ ratings across all five key areas: quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, and early years provision.
The extraordinary report reflects the school’s commitment to excellence, with inspectors praising the supportive environment that allows pupils to thrive. Located in the village of Histon, Cambridgeshire, the school is part of Meridian Trust and caters for approximately 373 pupils aged between 4 and 11 years old.
The inspectors highlighted the school’s commitment to promoting a love of reading from an early age, stating that “a love of reading permeates the school.” The carefully designed reading spine (a collection of core texts) provides pupils with a diverse selection of literature, encouraging them to explore and develop their reading skills.
The report also commended the school’s curriculum as “broad and well-structured,” ensuring that pupils build a deep understanding of important knowledge over time.
Behaviour at Histon and Impington Brook Primary was noted as exemplary, with the report stating that “pupils’ behaviour is exceptional. Pupils work incredibly hard to reach the high expectations staff have of them.” This reflects the strong relationships built within the school community and highlights the positive learning environment created by staff.
