Mark Bedlow

Trustee, Vice Chair Board of Trustees and Chair of Finance & Resources Committee

Mark joined CMAT’s Board of Trustees in 2022, having previously served as an Independent Member of the Audit Committee since 2013. He has chaired both the Audit and Risk Committee and the Finance and Resources Committee, bringing extensive financial, operational and governance expertise to the Trust.

Mark retired from his role as Chief Operating Officer at AQA in December 2025 after six years in the position. During his tenure, he held overall responsibility for the delivery of AQA’s 11.5 million GCSE and A Level certificates awarded annually, including throughout the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, during which he served as Interim Chief Executive. Prior to joining AQA, Mark spend six years at Cambridge OCR in a variety of senior leadership roles. He also served as Chair of the Joint Council for Qualifications for four years until September 2019.

A Chartered Accountant by profession, Mark enjoyed a successful 20-year career with PwC, where he held a range of roles across finance, mergers and acquisitions, risk management and technology. His experience spans multiple sectors and includes both national and international responsibilities.

Mark’s extensive leadership experience, strong financial acumen and deep understanding of governance make a valuable contribution to the strategic oversight and continued success of the Trust. He took up the role as Vice Chair of Trustees as of September 2026.
