After gaining a Mathematics degree and qualifying as a Certified Accountant, Ian followed a career in Commerce working in Banking as an accountant specialising in financial accounting for complex banking products.
He became a Trustee of Sharnbrook Academy after retirement, and when the five schools joined what was then CMAT, he then spent five years as an external member of the Meridian Finance & Resources Committee.
In his spare time, he sings in a choir, likes to walk, travels, and follows rugby union – especially his hometown team Leicester Tigers.
In April 2026 he became a Trustee for Meridian Trust.
