How to encrypt an email

When emailing personal information out of the CMAT/CPET Organisation (external agencies such as Department of Education, Local Authorities or other schools outside of the CMAT/CPET trust).

    1. Within the subject box of your email type either “encrypt”, “encryption”, “encrypted”
Note: you do not need to use capital letters and other text can also be included within the subject of your email.
    2. If the receiver is using Outlook.com or Office 365 they will be able to read the message, the same way as unencrypted messages. However, there will be an indicator at the top of the email notifying the reader that the message is encrypted
    3. If the receiver is not using Office 365, they will receive an email similar the one below and they need to press “Read the Message”
    4. They can either sign into their email account to access the email (depending on their email account) and they will then be able to read the email.
    5. Or they can select the blue link for a one-time passcode
    6. They will then receive a second email with the one-time passcode
    7. This can then be copy and paste into the original email
