More than £42 million was raised in Comic Relief’s latest Red Nose Day and our academies enjoyed taking part in fundraising activities and coming together for a good cause.
At Sawtry Village Academy, students wore something red and student leaders, with a few staff to support, ran a bake sale with cakes baked by the students, a ‘beat the goalie’ penalty shootout, a basketball challenge and a mousehole challenge, where students bowled through differently sized ‘mouseholes’ worth different points. The academy also ran a joke competition, with a joke book as a prize and one amazing student ran their own bake sale, raising a brilliant £77!
Northstowe Secondary College also took to baked goods to raise funds, with a Big NSC Bake Sale, which saw staff and students selling delicious cakes and biscuits during break and lunch time. Students also organised their own fundraising challenges inside or outside school during March for an opportunity to achieve one of their Pledges.
Children at Sawtry Junior Academy were given the freedom to express who they are through their outfits on Friday and they did not disappoint. Students took part in red nose joke orienteering and red nose themed maths and spoon races. The academy were really proud to have raised a total of £208 and to have shown students that helping others is important and good for their own wellbeing.
