While the summer break offers a well-deserved respite for many, for one area of our Meridian Trust team, it’s the busiest time of the year.
Our Estates team will use the period when our schools and buildings are least occupied to carry out a range of new builds, improvements and upgrades.
Under the guidance of Martin Hair, Director of Estates, this summer will be the time for transformation with each project tailored to elevate the educational experience within our Trust.
A large proportion of work will be to the roofing and carried out in line with our Captain Carbon programme to battle against energy waste helping our schools to become greener.
- North Cambridge Academy: Introducing a new office space and internal improvements to corridors and doors.
- NeneGate School: Enhancing the learning environment through internal improvements to windows, lighting, and doors.
- Oakley Primary Academy: Replacing the roofing to ensure a safe and comfortable environment.
- Sharnbrook Academy: Improving the science and maths blocks with brand-new roofing.
- Stratton Upper School: Replacing the science block roof and equipping the school with modern kitchen facilities.
Additionally, ongoing projects set to conclude after the summer break include:
- Lincroft Academy: Expanding the dining area and activity studio.
- Oakley Primary Academy: Enhancing the learning environment through new internal ceilings, lighting, and decoration.
- Sawtry Village Academy: Expanding the Central team site by removing garages to create new car parking spaces and constructing additional storage facilities (see image for work to science block taking place).

“These improvements, from the roofing upgrades to the internal enhancements and remodelling, will create inspiring environments where students can thrive and reach their full potential.
“Individual school site teams will also be completing various tasks from their school improvement plans to support the upkeep ensuring our sites look fresh for the start of the next academic year. We will then be continuing to improve schools throughout the winter period with projects we haven’t had time to schedule in.
