Bar Hill Primary School, part of Meridian Trust, has been awarded the School Games Gold Mark Award for the 2025/26 academic year. This prestigious recognition celebrates commitment to providing high-quality sporting opportunities and promoting participation, competition and personal development through sport across the school community.

The School Games Mark, a Government-led award scheme, launched in 2012 and is facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust. The award recognises schools that demonstrate a strong commitment to developing competitive sport both within school and through participation in local inter-school events and wider community opportunities.
Charlotte Linden, Head Teacher, said: “We are incredibly proud to have achieved the School Games Gold Mark Award. Sport and physical activity play a vital role in our school, helping children to develop confidence, resilience, teamwork and a love of being active. Miss Frampton has worked tirelessly to raise the profile of PE and school sport across the school this year, creating more opportunities for pupils to participate and compete. We are especially proud to have achieved Gold Mark status at the first opportunity, which reflects the enthusiasm of our pupils, the dedication of our staff and the support of our wider school community.”

Throughout the year, Bar Hill Primary pupils have taken part in a wide range of sporting competitions and festivals, including netball, football, cricket, athletics, tag rugby, dodgeball and Panathlon events. In total, 120 pupils represented the school in local inter-school competitions, showcasing enthusiasm, teamwork and determination.
Charlotte added: “We are proud not only of the number of pupils taking part, but also of the success they have achieved in competition. Our teams consistently perform well and are regularly recognised for their exemplary sporting conduct, encouraging fellow competitors and demonstrating the values of respect and teamwork. This was reflected in our pupils receiving several Spirit of the Games Awards throughout the year.

Sport and physical activity help pupils develop important life skills while enjoying healthy, active and rewarding experiences. The award sits alongside Bar Hill Primary School’s Healthy School Ambassador status, reflecting the whole-school commitment to promoting health, wellbeing and positive lifestyles for all children.
