On Sunday 3rd October, CMAT Executive Principal, Andy Daly, completed the London Marathon in just 3 hours and 53 minutes. This was the second time Andy has finished the London Marathon, raising nearly £3000 so far for the Wooden Spoon Charity.
Andy said: “20 years ago, aged 23, I completed the London Marathon in 4 hours and 52 minutes. A lack of training and proper preparation meant it was a very painful and humbling experience! However in 2021, I managed to knock off a considerable amount of my time having done some proper training and completed it in 3 hours and 53 mins.
“It was a very atmospheric and joyful event with so much support and encouragement from the thousands of people who turned out to watch, and also fellow competitors who spurred one another on. It felt like a real release of pent-up emotions after the last 18 months and it was great to see so many people running, cheering, drumming and singing!
“I was running for the Wooden Spoon Charity which is the children’s charity of rugby. Wooden Spoon aims to change the lives of disabled and disadvantaged children through the power and networks of rugby. Having raised nearly £3000 so far, I hope this will go some way to supporting this really great cause.
