Abbey College in Ramsey has officially entered a new chapter, joining Meridian Trust on 1st March 2026, following a decade-long, successful partnership built on shared values and ambition for young people.
The move formalises a strong 10-year working relationship with the Trust, during which the school has already benefited from external expertise and support across key areas. Meridian Trust now oversees 36 primary, secondary and special schools across Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Peterborough, Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire.
Andy Christoforou, Headteacher of Abbey College said: “We are delighted to be formally joining the Meridian Trust family. Abbey College already has close and well-established ties with the Trust, so this feels like a natural next step. I’m confident the transition will be a smooth and positive experience for our students, staff and the wider school community.”
This news comes as the College prepares for a one-form entry expansion, increasing Year 7 capacity from 210 to 240 students each year. The £8 million project, funded by Cambridgeshire County Council, will draw on the expertise of Meridian Trust’s wider estates team, who have successfully delivered similar schemes and were recently shortlisted for two national Education Property Awards.
Andy added: “Because we already work so closely with Meridian Trust, the day-to-day experience at Abbey College will remain the same. Parents and carers can be confident that our school’s values will continue to shine, while formally joining the Trust allows us to build on these benefits. It creates a strong and sustainable future and ensures that the support and opportunities we provide can continue, no matter what challenges the education sector may face.”
